About The Park

The park was dedicated in November 2004 to commemorate the extraordinary Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-1806. The group of explorers lead by Lewis and Clark, known as the Corps of Discovery, camped out at Fort Clatsop during the winter of 1805-1806.

Today, guests can visit the Fort Clatsop replica that sits on the grounds of the original, in addition to a bronze statue honoring Sacagawea, a Native American woman who famously helped the Corps of Discovery navigate the unknown west.

In the park today, visitors can explore the large park’s incredible sights, which features over 140 species of mammals, birds, and amphibians, along with over 250 plant varietals
