Enjoy a 90 Minute Walking Tour of Oysterville Sea Farms Interpretive Center, Production Facilities. You will go out on to the beds to learn about the area, oysters and how they sustainably farm oysters. Further, you also get to shuck them and eat them! Oysterville Sea Farm is located in Oysterville WA. This historic community is located on the Long Beach Peninsula in Pacific County, Washington, United States. Start your journey on the bike path at the sign marking “The World’s Longest Beach” which arches proudly over Bolstad Street in Long Beach WA. Ample parking awaits. Follow the paved path southward, embracing the ocean’s closeness and the refreshing sea breeze caressing your face as your wheels glide over the paved terrain. Pass through clusters of trees, catching sight of a striking rugged rock formation along the way, which will be to your left. Soon after that you will encounter a parking lot.
Proceed straight ahead, through the parking lot to a place where you can cross the road. There is another trail to your left, even though it is pretty, save that for another time and continue through to the lighthouse. Once crossing the road, Prepare for a gentle uphill stretch leading you to the trail’s apex. Stop for a breather at the top, this is a great place to allow everyone in your group to catch up. Again, you will cross the road and follow the path through some trees. This is the direct route and the final 300 feet before you get to the lighthouse.
For an added thrill, as you approach the North Head Lighthouse House parking circle, consider veering hard right for a rewarding ascent to a magnificent lookout point. This scenic overlook has a few historical notes as you ascend. Pro Tip: The state website says the Lighthouse is closed in the Winter months, but you can still go see it from the outside. Restrooms are available in the parking area, and remember as a cyclist, you’re exempt from parking fees.
Continue toward the lighthouse, veer slightly left and the path down will guide you to a scenic overlook where you can see the lighthouse from an elevated view. You can also walk just a few feet further to stand at the base of the lighthouse. In addition to the lighthouse, if you veer right at the parking circle, the pathway leads to a charming small store, offering a delightful stroll-through experience. The Jetty is nestled on the North side of the “Mouth of the Columbia River”. Here, you’ll encounter fisherpeople casting their lines from the expansive boulders lining the jetty. While eagles and seagulls soar gracefully overhead, eagerly awaiting their next meal. Meanwhile, playful sea lions frolic in the waters nearby. As you can see, a small black shark navigates the water, cresting gracefully through the jetty’s cool waters. The great history and creation of the Columbia River holds the key to geological exploration and findings.
As you walk the jetty, allow the gentle sea breeze to caress your skin. Your heart lifts its many burdens by the beauty of these natural wonders.
To get to the Jetty, simply make your way to Cape Disappointment State Park, located approximately six miles south of the Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort. Follow the road leading towards Waikiki Beach until you reach the blocked-off section. Next, a paved road will guide you within 100 feet of the sandy portion of the jetty. You will see the Mouth of the Columbia River on your left. The path veers left to easily access the jetty’s edge. While flip flops are feasible for this walk, tennis shoes may provide added comfort. Once on the jetty, take a moment to observe the wildlife to the South and the crashing waves on Benson Beach to the North. Marvel at the panoramic views encompassing the North Head Lighthouse, the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, and the breathtaking beauty of the Pacific Northwest in every direction. Also, you may even see vessels navigating these challenging waters.
